Kira Lynn Laurin, M.A.
My name is Kira Lynn (she/they), and I have been working with adults and teens in private practice since 2020. I graduated in 2021 with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and opened my practice in Hawkesbury, Ontario, that year.
My Path to Becoming a Therapist
I was always really drawn to people’s capacity to heal with the support of a non-judgmental and empathetic person, even before I knew what the study of psychotherapy was. Therapy and supporting people through their healing journeys has always been a passion of mine, especially considering that I have also lived through challenging and painful moments—grief, loss, feeling lost in finding who I am… Therapy was there as a tool for me to rely on, and I want to offer that to my clients.
Why Work With Me
I have experience working with individuals who have experienced complex grief, a loss of identity or exploring their identity, adjusting to late diagnoses of neurodivergence, and experiences of anxiety. I have found that my training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other trauma-focused approaches has been most beneficial for clients. During our therapeutic journey, we will utilize the foundation of a client-centred approach (reflective, empathetic, and non-judgmental support) while using skills and tools to help you unhook from unhelpful thoughts and feelings. The end goal is to live a life you find fulfilling.
Is Therapy Right for You?
If you feel like life has lost purpose or you feel lost, therapy could be an option for you to explore. It’s crucial to find a therapist who understands your experience and who is able to make space for you.
A free 15-minute consultation with me can help orient you on your journey. Together, may we find a place for you to feel safe to discuss difficult thoughts and emotions in order to find a clearer path toward the life you want to live.
